ABOUT US

THUNK a cappella is Northwestern's oldest a cappella group. THUNK is co-ed, comprised of about 18 to 20 members year to year, and entirely student directed and produced. The group has at least two concerts on campus annually, performs at special events around the Chicago area and takes a trip to Cape Town, South Africa every other winter.

PERFORMANCES

​In addition to at least two on-campus performances each year, THUNK is regularly asked to sing at fundraising and university-related gigs at Northwestern and at major events in the Chicago area. THUNK has performed at schools, hospitals, churches, charity events, private parties and galas throughout the area. Some of THUNK’s notable performance venues include:
  • Northwestern University’s President’s Convocation
  • Wrigley Field
  • Westminster Abbey in London, England
  • The Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago
  • The Royal National Theatre in London, England
  • The Amphitheater at the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront in Cape Town

OUTREACH

THUNK took its seventh trip to Cape Town, South Africa, in December 2016 to hold music education workshops and perform at several concert venues around the city.
